Our Collection

Noosa Museum hosts an excellent collection of artefacts from pioneer times, from farming equipment, carpentry tools, timber samples - Pomona was known for its high quality timber - to war relics and musical instruments.

Each display illustrates a moment in time and traces the progress of the Noosa district, from before the arrival of the first Europeans through to the present day. It is a fascinating journey through time.

Feature Displays

Round a corner in our museum and you might encounter a recreation of a bedroom or kitchen in a settler's hut, a barber shop, a butchery, a schoolroom or a pub - there’s even an outback dunny.

Or you may find a special display representing a particular theme, a memorable event, a moment in history.

The Visitor Experience

We’re constantly striving to enhance the experience for our visitors. There are displays you can interact with, you can listen to a wind-up phonograph, demonstrate your proficiency - or just your enthusiasm - on a playable piano, try out the barber’s chair, maybe even get to sit in one of our vintage fire engines.

We’re constantly adding to and updating our audio-visual enhancements, we attend local events and occasionally host topical presentations. You can arrange a group tour, hosted by one of our volunteers. Click on the links in this paragraph for more information.
